Non-Invasive Ventilation and Mechanical In-exsufflation
Description
This competency-based workshop will prepare the community healthcare provider with the knowledge and skills to care for children requiring non-invasive ventilation and mechanical in-exsufflation. A pre-reading package is required to be completed prior to attending the workshop in order to participate in discussions and learning activities. Participants will have the opportunity to practice skills and participate in simulation scenarios caring for a child with non-invasive ventilation.
Pre-requisites: Registered participants are required to complete the pre-learning package prior to attending the workshop in order to fully participate in the learning activities planned throughout the day.
Objectives
- Identify the indications for requiring non-invasive ventilation support
- Identify the indications for requiring mechanical in-exsufflation (Cough Assist)
- Demonstrate safe and effective set-up of non-invasive ventilation (Stellar and Trilogy devices)
- Practice alarm management of home ventilators
- Demonstrate safe and effective care of a child receiving home ventilation and mechanical in-exsufflation
