Description
Connected Care webinar series delivers education on foundational knowledge on specific medical technology. Each webinar aims to provide an overview of up-to-date nursing practices related to the care of the technology. These webinars will complement our competency-based education workshops offered at SickKids throughout the year.
Objectives
- Describe type 1 diabetes technology used by children in the school setting
- Provide an overview of both Health Canada approved and non-approved insulin pumps
- Discuss the nursing role in working with DIY Insulin Delivery Systems
- Highlight the importance of applying critical thinking when accessing and interacting with insulin pump delivery systems
- Provide examples of possible clinical situations that may need to be navigated with diabetes technology at school
Target audience
Nurses who have previously taken a Connected Care module and require a refresher to support caring for a child with technology or nurses who have previous experience caring for a child and require an update on best practices
Mode
Webinars are delivered through a videoconferencing platform called Zoom. This requires access to internet, a computer, tablet or smartphone (with a camera, microphone and speaker). Please make sure to download Zoom on your device prior to the webinar.
