Description
This full day competency-based workshop will prepare the community healthcare with the knowledge and skills to care for children requiring an enteral feeding tube such as G/GJ tubes and NG tubes. Participants will have the opportunity to practice skills related to the care of a child requiring this technology.
Pre-requisites: Registered participants are required to complete the pre-learning package prior to attending the workshop in order to fully participate in the learning activities planned throughout the day.
Objectives
- Review different type of feeding tubes
- Review modes of delivering enteral therapy
- Review care of different NG/G/GJ tubes
- Understand stoma assessment and management
- Understand management of a blocked G or GJ tube
- Understand management of a dislodged tube
- Understand management of a migrated tube
- Practice care of balloon type tubes (e.g. Mic-Key™, Kangaroo)
