Invasive Ventilation via a Tracheostomy
Description
This full day competency-based workshop will prepare the community healthcare provider with the knowledge and skills to care for children requiring invasive ventilation via a tracheostomy. A pre-reading package is required to be completed prior to attending the workshop in order to participate in discussions and learning activities. Participants will have the opportunity to practice skills and participate in simulation scenarios caring for a child with invasive ventilation.
Objectives
- Identify the indications for requiring invasive ventilation support via a tracheostomy
- Demonstrate safe and effective set-up of invasive ventilation
- Practice alarm management of home ventilators
- Demonstrate safe and effective care of a child receiving home ventilation via a tracheostomy
