DESCRIPTION:\n\nDescription \n\n\n\nThis full day competency-based workshop will prepare the community healthcare with the knowledge and skills to care for children requiring an enteral feeding tube such as G/GJ tubes and NG tubes.  Participants will have the opportunity to practice skills related to the care of a child requiring this technology.\n\n\n\nPre-requisites: Registered participants are required to complete the pre-learning package prior to attending the workshop in order to fully participate in the learning activities planned throughout the day.\n\n\n\nObjectives\n\n\n\n\nReview different type of feeding tubes\n\n\n\nReview modes of delivering enteral therapy\n\n\n\nReview care of different NG/G/GJ tubes\n\n\n\nUnderstand stoma assessment and management\n\n\n\nUnderstand management of a blocked G or GJ tube\n\n\n\nUnderstand management of a dislodged tube\n\n\n\nUnderstand management of a migrated tube\n\n\n\nPractice care of balloon type tubes (e.g. Mic-Key™, Kangaroo)\n\n\n\n\nLocation\n\n\n\nSickKids Simulation Centre175 Elizabeth Street, Simulation Centre, Training Room DToronto, ON\n\n\n\nPlease note that this workshop is Located in the new Support Tower on the corner of Elizabeth and Elm Street.
